Devon took a longer nap today which gave me the chance to check out some of my favorite designers collections for next Spring. Here's some of my picks for the season so far. I'm still waiting for Balenciaga , was disappointed by Proenza Schouler, and I have to say that I'm really loving Alexander Wang at the moment.

Here's just a sneak peek at some of the new prints, plaids, and stripes for the Devon Rose Fall Collection! I'm so excited and inspired to make new pieces, so be on the lookout for precious l/s printed blouses, and comfy funnel neck sweaters. I'll be pairing them with plaid jumpers, corduroy overalls, culottes, two-toned brown denim skirts and stripey suspender pants...

later comes updated mini moccasins, headbands, and our new pretty purses :)

~Free Range & Fall Fabric~

I'm going fabric shopping tomorrow for the new Devon Rose fall collection! I've already purchased a beautiful floral print cotton organza from this crazy little "curiosities" shop my husband and I stumbled upon the other day. It was an amazing collection of antique furniture, clothing, housewares, and fabric mixed with voodoo masks, quack antique doctor's instruments and what looked like a chair from an insane asylum for little kids. Anyways, I'm definitely going back for more! Be sure to check out my fall collection which will start posting around the 27th of this month :)

~It's Not Just Fish Anymore~

We took Devon to the Dallas World Aquarium on Sunday and even though I had been there in the past (ten years ago) it was a completely new experience for all of us! What was once just a plain ol' building has now been converted into a multi-level rain forest with free-range birds of all kinds, manatees, monkeys, giant otters, and the only publicly displayed three-toed sloth in the U.S. (and he was completely free-ranged as well) It was amazing to be right there next to him without any cage between us. He actually reached out to touch Devon! I've never seen her so captivated - she had a blast! If you love animals, you gotta check it out :)

~ New Life ~

First of all, I must apologize as I have been horrible about keeping up with posts this month. We've only been in Dallas for 2 weeks now and are still adjusting to our new environment.

We love our new loft, but currently have zero furniture (which makes it a little difficult to get motivated for sewing) My mother was kind enough to lend me her sewing machine (until I can get mine out of storage) but I have no table and chair to use it. So, Devon and I have been spending our days here hanging out with my sister, my niece and shopping and eating...tough huh?

~ A Room with a View ~

If you can imagine it, you can have it, Emily. This is the name of the game. This is the lesson to learn. It couldn't be any easier. Reality is not what your eyes show your mind, but what your mind creates for your eyes to see. You are not limited by logic, the past, or the world around you. You are not even of the world around you. You are supernatural, pure spirit. You came first. ~ The Universe

So here it is! The view from our new loft in Dallas, Texas and it is exactly the view that I had imagined. Totally industrial, Isaac had said that he wanted a more creative space and this is the perfect solution. The building was an old flour mill and is perfectly located for easy access to the train, has a beautiful rooftop pool, and a fully loaded fitness room. It will be so much easier to keep an eye on Devon in one huge room and we are super excited to be able to redecorate a completely new space. We will be starting over from scratch. The only things that we'll be bringing with us are the essentials...clothing, TV, DVD, etc. We had been longing for a change, ready to get out of this rut and start over. So here it goes..new living space, new stuff, new city, new state, new job, new outlook, brand new life :)

~ Here, There and Everywhere ~

Devon's totally mobile now, cruising all over the house. She crawls like a little spider with one leg bent and the other sticking straight out. It sounds strange, but she's definitely perfected it and moves fast! Her favorite place to have an adventure is the bathroom. It's where she can check herself out in the mirror and she can spend hours doing that if I would let her (she also has a weird obsession with the vacuum)

Devon's becoming quite mischievous! I'll constantly catch her pulling herself up to the top shelf of the entertainment center (which rolls out to reveal the DVD player) It's a definite "no no" and she completely understands "no" and also responds to "Devon." She'll put a pudgy hand on the edge of the shelf, roll it out and then turn her head to look for me...."Devon, what are you doing? You know you're not suppose to do that!" then she'll throw the most mischievous little smirk, drop to the floor and starts it all over again, just to see what she can get away with. It's hilarious and annoying at the same time.

I'm working on some summer dresses for my sister-in-law Heidi. When I saw these cotton prints, they instantly made me think of her~ whimsical,beautiful, and unique ! So, now I'm working on figuring out the perfect silhouettes for these happy prints!

~ Change Of Plans ~

As spontaneously as we moved to L.A. from San Francisco, so are we moving from L.A. to Dallas. Instead of leaving in the winter as planned, certain events have unfolded to reveal a new date of July 31st...18 days! Crazy.

The anticipation of beginning our completely new life in Dallas makes this an extremely exciting (but also stressful) time. So, I am currently finishing up some custom orders for our Etsy boutique to ship at the end of the week and then I must shift all attention to our move... as it's a big one! Once we have settled in, I'll start production on Devon's Fall line that will post in mid- September. Everything will be new (even the avatar) so make sure to check back then :)

~ Dallas Bound ~

It's official, we are moving to Dallas! This will (most likely) happen by late December, early January. Winter is the perfect time to move to a city like Dallas. I'll finally be able to open that store with my sister (that we've been discussing forever!) and we'll be closer to my parents (that I never get to see) as well.

Isaac and I have been checking out houses every day on craigslist. There are so many super cute options with way more space. Devon will have so much room to grow (which is perfect because she is getting huge!) I can't wait to take Isaac to all the places that I remember and loved there. It's been 10 years, and alot has changed but I know Isaac and Devon will love it:)
